Casepoint launched two AI agents for document review within its IQ platform.

Why it matters: These AI tools enhance legal document review efficiency and accuracy, impacting legal operations and litigation strategies. Incorporating defensible AI helps legal teams manage large datasets while maintaining audit trails and oversight.

  • The Relevance Determination Agent scores and explains document relevance with audit trails.
  • The Issue Coding Agent classifies documents by issue and measures recall and precision.
  • Both agents use multiple AI models and require user validation before full deployment.
  • Future AI agents will address redaction and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) detection.

Casepoint has introduced two new AI agents—the Relevance Determination Agent and the Issue Coding Agent—integrated into its Casepoint IQ platform, which combines agentic AI, assistive AI, machine learning, and predictive coding. These agents are built to assist legal professionals in managing complex document review tasks.

The Relevance Determination Agent evaluates every document against the specific criteria of a legal matter. It outputs a relevance determination, the rationale behind its decision, and a likelihood score. Importantly, it maintains a complete audit trail, recording both human and AI decisions, supporting defensibility during litigation.

The Issue Coding Agent categorizes documents based on legal, factual, or investigative issues defined in the case. It also calculates recall and precision metrics for each issue code post-application, enabling users to assess coding accuracy.

Both agents implement multiple AI models cross-checking results, reducing risks of errors. They require user validation using sample document sets to ensure accuracy before processing entire document collections, emphasizing human oversight in the AI workflow.

Looking ahead, Casepoint plans additional AI agents focused on automated redaction and identifying Personally Identifiable Information (PII), which aim to further streamline legal review and compliance. Early access customers already use the current AI agents within the platform.

Casepoint's platform is designed to serve legal, government, and compliance sectors and holds rigorous security certifications, including FedRAMP Moderate and High, ISO 27001, and Department of Defense IL5 and IL6 authorizations, ensuring secure handling of sensitive data.

By the numbers:

  • 2 AI agents launched — Relevance Determination and Issue Coding
  • Multiple security certifications — FedRAMP Moderate/High, ISO 27001, DOD IL5/IL6
  • Future AI tools — planned for redaction and PII detection

What's next: Casepoint is developing future AI agents targeting redaction and PII detection, though release timelines are not yet disclosed.
